Accomplishments

(1st Term)

Investments in the expansion of agriculture across Kauaʻi, including:

  1. Financial support totaling $3.6M from County GIA and CARES for Agricultural Focused projects.
  2. Financial support for the Kīlauea Ag Park totaling $968,500.
  3. Dedication of a portion of the “Waimea 400” to local Ag production.
  4. Reinstituted the agricultureifocused position in the Office of Economic Development.
  5. Reestablished the Ag Summer Internship Program, and expanded charter schools and community ag programs.
  6. Culled half of the Rose Ringed Parakeet population.

LOOKING FORWARD

(2nd Term)
Advocating and investing for expansion of Ag programs on Kauaʻi, including:

  1. Implementing Ag portion of the Waimea 400 Community Plan.
  2. Expand Food Certification Program for farmers.
  3. Complete Kaua‘i Agriculture Economic Development Plan.
  4. Complete market feasibility study on cattle.
  5. Coordinate emergency food access and distribution plan.
  6. Pilot Sunshine Market “Experience” events.
  7. Improve technology option availability for Ag producers.
  8. Start an annual Agriculture Food and Beverage Expo on Kauaʻi.
  9. Promote local food production for local consumption. Advocating state agencies to ensure irrigation water is available for Ag.
